Chapter 1: Conflict on the Wedding Night

The day after I got my marriage license with Allen, who was divorced and had a son, I cooked a table of dishes his son Leon liked as a gesture of goodwill.

But this thirteen-year-old boy was unappreciative and flipped the table over.

“You don’t need to pretend to be kind! You make me sick just looking at you! Get out of my house!” he yelled at me.

Looking at the mess on the floor, I calmly said to Allen, “I know he needs time to adjust. I’ll stay at a hotel tonight. Let him cool down.”

After that, ignoring Allen’s attempts to stop me, I grabbed my bag and left.
