My Mom Shipped Us Before We Did Chapter 13

Chapter 13: The Nosebleed

1614 words

Warm lips, moving soft and slow against mine. His breath mixed with mine until my head swam. He pulled back just a little, forehead dropping to my shoulder, breathing hard.

"You promised me a reward, Zo. Can we keep going? Just a little longer?"

I knew his scent by heart. But tonight, Zane smelled like trouble. I shut my eyes, hooked a hand behind his neck, and bit him.

He crushed me against his chest, and it felt like stumbling into a snowbound cabin with a fire going—that safe, that warm. My nose stung. I nearly cried.

It was supposed to stay light. Neither of us stayed light. Things were getting genuinely out of hand when he suddenly shoved me back, clamping a hand over his nose, and whispered: "Zo—wait—!"

I hadn't even caught up. Then I saw the blood running through his fingers, and my brain broke too. I snatched tissues off the nightstand and pressed them under his nose. "What is wrong with you?!"

Zane's whole face was crimson. He couldn't look at me. "Maybe—maybe it's been too long since I saw you. I missed you a little too—"

I glared at him, torn between fury and disbelief. My first kiss. A perfectly good moment. And it ended in a crime scene.

"We haven't even done anything and you're bleeding like this! Imagine if we actually got undressed, I swear you'd—"

I cut myself off. The tissues under his nose had gone from white to soaked red. Zane's hoarse voice was tipping into something close to a whimper.

"Zo, please stop talking, I—I can't take it."

I sulked about it for a minute. Then I caught his ears—still fully red—and burst out laughing. Hopelessly innocent, this man.
