Things were quiet for a while, and I thought I was finally free of Olivia. But I had a feeling it wasn’t over. I didn’t plan to use my precious second chance to seek revenge on trash; I’d just wait for them to destroy themselves.
Then a colleague pointed it out: I was being cyberbullied.
Olivia had posted edited, secretly recorded videos on TikTok and Instagram. In them, she sobbed, telling a completely fabricated story: how I betrayed our friendship, turned her friends against her, got her fired, took back the apartment I’d “let” her stay in, and harassed her for money when she was poorest…
My image was maliciously distorted to look aggressive and cruel. Evan stood by her side, playing the strong, silent supporter. With beauty filters working overtime, they almost looked like a tragic, misunderstood couple.
The videos went viral. Olivia seemed to go all-in, even paying for some influencer accounts to push the narrative. I became the internet’s favorite “toxic frenemy.” My social media was dug up, flooded with vile comments. People even found my phone number and harassed me.
I took immediate leave from work and went virtually offline, cutting myself off temporarily. The online hate couldn’t hurt me if I didn’t see it. Having died once, I knew better than anyone how to protect myself.
Then, I contacted Samantha, started gathering evidence, and hired a lawyer.
Samantha said the situation hadn’t blown up that much yet, a simple clarification might be enough.
I smiled. “I wish it would blow up even bigger.”
I was sick of Olivia’s gutter-rat tactics. It was time to end this, once and for all.
Whom the gods wish to destroy, they first make mad.
In my opinion, they weren’t mad enough yet.
I deliberately delayed posting my clarification video for a week. During that week, Olivia and Evan signed with a small influencer agency, went live several times flaunting their “love,” and milked the situation for all it was worth.
Soon, I didn’t even need to lift a finger. Concerned netizens and other “ex-girlfriends” of Evan dug up his entire sordid history: scamming money, cheating, playing multiple women at once… the receipts kept coming.
Olivia’s account, which had grown by slandering me, was suddenly flooded with comments urging her to “DUMP HIM.”
“Break up with him! Your boyfriend is trash!”
“Did you know he’s abusive and cheats?”
“Girl, run!”
Obviously, Olivia didn’t appreciate the internet’s concern. The girl I couldn’t wake up even by dying in my past life wasn’t about to be saved by online comments.
After some deliberation, Olivia and Evan posted a new video.
“Evan has already confessed all of this to me! I believe him! Nobody’s perfect, right? I’m willing to give Evan a chance! I believe love can conquer all!”
In the video, Olivia gazed at Evan with utter “devotion.”
The internet was collectively stunned.
“Holy crap, a live specimen of ‘boy crazy’!”
“Alright folks, scatter. Trash belongs with trash.”
“Someone explain this to me… does love also work as a painkiller?”
When public opinion reached its peak, and the whole internet was talking about this “legendary” couple, I had my prepared clarification video posted through a major influencer I’d contacted.
In the video, I laid out all the evidence clearly: the phone call recording, the proof Olivia was fired from Samantha’s company, the photos of my trashed apartment, the police report, statements from high school classmates…
“I’ve been thinking these past few days, why did my best friend become like this? Did a relationship change her, or were we just never on the same path to begin with?” I gave a self-deprecating smile at the end of the video. “Or maybe, from the very start, she never really considered me a true friend.”
Public opinion reversed in an instant.
“Well, I’m the clown here!”
“I knew something felt off!”
“I thought Jojo was the toxic one, turns out she’s just the ultimate doormat!”
The people who had cursed me before, realizing they’d been played, redirected their fury with doubled force towards Olivia and Evan. Along with the online hate, they also received my lawyer’s letters—for defamation, invasion of privacy, and trespassing.
The top-tier lawyer recommended by Samantha’s family was more than enough to sue them into the ground.
