Chapter 3: Playing the Part

Rose, using methods unknown to me, managed to move into the Allendale family’s Hamptons estate. She’d video call our parents to show off her lavish life.

“Dad, once I give birth to the Allendale heir, you won’t have to kiss up to anyone anymore.”

“Mom, don’t worry about me. The private chef here is much better than you.”

Then, she’d turn to me. “Out of sisterly pity, Ryan, I might get you a job cleaning toilets at Allendale Corp.”

Our parents looked uncomfortable, unsure if she was complimenting or insulting them.

I smirked. “Thank you, oh noble Female Lead. We are not worthy.”

Hearing “Female Lead,” her eyes lit up with barely concealed glee.

She updated her Instagram daily with glamorous selfies from the estate, DMing me to prove my past-life intervention was a mistake.

“You’re just an extra, a background character. You have no right to interfere with the protagonist’s plot. See how happy I am without you? Background characters should just clock into their corporate jobs and stop worrying about the main story.”

I ignored her and took Mom out to look at apartments.
