His chest was so warm it practically burned me. I yanked my hand back and put on my coldest voice.
"Zane. Get a grip. 'Like'? Please. Go put a shirt on.
"And honestly? Shirt on, shirt off—doesn't matter. Your body does nothing for me."
Zane flinched like I'd slapped him. The color drained from his face. "Zo... you hate me that much?"
I shoved him off and sat up straight. "I don't hate you. I'm just not into your body. That's all."
The man hated sweating, so of course he hated working out. Those faint slabs of abs? Probably just his ribs being skinny.
I pulled up my saved TikToks and shoved the screen in his face. "Look at this guy. And this one. Full package, both of them. A pretty face doesn't cut it anymore."
Zane stared at my phone, gaze going dark and very, very focused. "Is that the kind of shape Derek's in?"
My face went hot. I called him a lunatic. "I've never seen the guy with his shirt off, how would I know? Now go to bed and leave me alone!"
But Zane caught my wrist one more time. "Then if I got in shape like that—would you delete him and be with me?"
"You need your head examined!"
I shoved him away hard and fled to my room. I never saw Zane sitting on that couch for a long, long time, searching workout videos.
