Two days later, Rose’s attempt to stop the wedding was headline news. The Allendale-Chow union was a business merger. Everyone knew about Hunter’s exploits, but they were tolerated as long as they stayed private. Rose’s public spectacle brought everything into the light.

In the viral video, Rose, disguised in a stolen staff uniform, slipped into the venue. As Hunter and Chloe stood on stage accepting toasts, she ripped off the uniform, revealing her swollen belly, and stood awkwardly in the middle of the lavish event.

After a moment, realizing Hunter hadn’t noticed her, she marched to the center of the stage. With red-rimmed eyes and tears, playing the part of the heartbroken, ethereal heroine, she posed her tragic question:

“Hunter, I’m asking you one last time. Do you choose me and our child, or her?”

The room fell silent, save for the ongoing wedding march. The host was frozen, microphone in hand.

Chloe shot Hunter a look, her face darkening. Hunter, slightly guilty, patted her hand reassuringly before rushing to Rose’s side.

Rose, straining to stand, gave him a sweet smile. I’m sure she thought, He’s finally seen the light.

Instead, Hunter kicked her squarely in the stomach. Not satisfied, he started kicking and punching her right there, in front of everyone, under the glare of countless camera flashes.

“You fcking btch! Why aren’t you dead yet?” he screamed. “I told you to get rid of it! How dare you ruin my engagement! You think you’re entitled? I’ll kill you!”

If it weren’t for the legal consequences, I think Hunter might have finished the job. Anyone entangled with Rose was cursed.

Security finally dragged a furious Hunter away. Rose was bleeding, going into early labor. Ambulances and police cars arrived. The scene was chaos. The grand Allendale-Chow engagement was destroyed.

Chloe walked out without a second glance. Hunter was taken in for questioning on assault charges.

On the ambulance gurney, Rose still called for Hunter, demanding he come to the hospital to witness the birth. Hunter’s face was purple with rage.

“Hunter,” Rose said, putting on a深情 (loving) act, “if you just come to the hospital with me… I can… I can pretend none of this happened.”

She might as well have said she wouldn’t press charges if he came.

Reluctantly, the Allendale entourage followed to the hospital.
