January brought Sarah back to Blackwood Academy, where the campus was covered in a blanket of fresh snow. The winter semester promised to be even more challenging than the fall, with advanced courses and new responsibilities.
Mr. Harrison had arranged for Sarah to work as a library assistant, a position that gave her access to the rare books collection and allowed her to spend even more time in her favorite place on campus.
"I've been reading your competition entry," Mr. Harrison said one afternoon as they catalogued new acquisitions. "It's quite remarkable for someone your age."
Sarah flushed with pride. "Thank you, Mr. Harrison. I put a lot of myself into that story."
"That's what makes it special," he replied. "Great writing comes from great vulnerability. Never be afraid to expose your truth through your words."
As the semester progressed, Sarah threw herself into her studies. She took advanced courses in creative writing, literary criticism, and journalism. She joined the school newspaper as a staff writer and quickly became known for her insightful reviews and compelling feature articles.
But it wasn't all work and no play. Sarah and Michael finally had "the talk" one evening after a dinner date at the campus café. They officially became a couple, and their relationship deepened as they supported each other through the challenges of the semester.
"You know," Michael said one night as they studied together in the library, "sometimes I think about how lucky I am to have met you."
Sarah smiled. "I think about that too. Blackwood brought us together."
"Blackwood brought a lot of things," Michael agreed. "But it was you who made it all worth it."
